GÖKNUR GIDA REGAINS WHAT IT TAKES FROM THE SOIL BACK TO THE SOIL

By processing the fruits of fertile Anatolian soil, we produce high value-added products and contribute to the national economy, as well as enriching the soil by returning our process wastes to the soil.

By processing the fruits of fertile Anatolian soils, we produce high value-added products and contribute to the national economy, as well as enriching the soil by returning our process wastes back to the soil.
For 25 years, Göknur Gıda has been one of Turkey's leading exporters by processing the fruits and vegetables produced by thousands of farmers all over Turkey in its modern facilities and exporting its fruit juices, concentrates and purees to 85 countries. As a matter of fact, with the export figures realized in 2021, it ranked first in the Fruit and Vegetable Products Sector in Turkey according to the data announced by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM).

WE CONTRIBUTE TO THE ENVIRONMENT
It carries out organic fruit farming in its orchards established on thousands of decares of land in Adana, Niğde, Eskişehir, Yozgat and Afyon. In addition to the fruits we produce in our orchards, which are among the largest in our country, we also take the fruits of tens of thousands of farmers and utilize them in our factories. Almost all of our orchards were empty, barren areas that were not farmed before. Thanks to the transformation of these areas into gardens; in addition to transforming barren lands into fertile lands, we contribute to the environment by providing job opportunities for the population living in nearby villages, teaching agricultural techniques and removing carbon dioxide from the air.
The fruits produced in our own orchards and procured from our farmers are transformed into value-added products in our 4 factories established in 3 fruit-producing regions of our country, with an annual fruit processing capacity of over 2 million tons. Thanks to the biogas facilities we have established, we transform the fruit wastes from our factories from being a burden on the environment into energy and contribute to the field of energy production, which our country is most dependent on foreign resources, with domestic and waste resources.

OUR GOAL IS TO PROVIDE RENEWABLE RESOURCES
Göknur Gıda strives to reduce its carbon footprint and aims to meet all of its electricity consumption from renewable sources. For this purpose, other projects have also started and over 5 MW of solar energy systems have been installed. In the next 2 years, we aim to increase this to 20 MW and provide all our electricity from renewable sources.
Our project "Journey from fruit and vegetable process wastes to energy" is a project that covers the production of renewable energy from biomass, which has an important place in terms of energy and environmental optimization, and the use of biogas production wastes as fertilizer in orchards.

WE ACT WITH ZERO WASTE PRINCIPLE
One of the missions of our company is to make environmentally sensitive productions with its efforts to utilize industrial wastes.  Another mission of our company is to contribute to the employment of the people in the region where it is located, the development and improvement of the region with its technological large investments in different regions of our country. With the biogas project and investment, our company has started to act with the principle of zero waste by evaluating all primary product wastes from its main activities in its own biogas facilities.
One of the goals of our project is to prevent environmental pollution and to produce energy from renewable sources by microbiologically evaluating the wastes rich in organic matter that are formed after production in our factories, which have a daily processing capacity of 7200 tons of fruits and vegetables.

WE SAVE WASTE FROM BEING A BURDEN ON THE ENVIRONMENT
During the project implementation phase, the biogas production plant was located next to the fruit juice factory to minimize logistics costs and indirect greenhouse gas emissions during waste transportation. Our biogas plant also purchases fruit waste from the food sector in the region, thus contributing to the reduction of environmental pollution in the region and supporting farmers.
The product that comes out after gas formation in biogas plants is a natural soil enrichment rich in organic matter. The soils of our country are not rich in organic matter. By using these wastes as plant nutrients in our gardens, we both make our soils more suitable for our fruit trees and save waste from being a burden on the environment.
In addition to our activities in the field of sustainable energy resources, we also have important activities in other sustainability development goals categories and we aim to contribute more to the creation of a safe, healthy and sustainable future.
